1 <br /> 32 Characterize Intercepted Water <br /> A grab sample will be collected from water intercepted in the "shallow water body' and at a <br /> down gradient bore hole pushed to the water table Water will be collected in keeping with <br /> Appendix C, SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PROCEDURES <br /> 1 3 2.1 Site Specific Groundwater Sampling <br /> Review of San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Lines of <br /> Equal Depth published for 1998 and groundwater information of Victor Fine Foods <br /> investigations located south of the site indicates that that ground water is approximately 50 <br /> feet bsg The regional groundwater flow gradient is estimated to be to the north north-east <br /> 3.3 Monitoring Well Installation and Sampling <br /> A "permanent monitoring well", to be monitored over four seasonal quarters will be <br /> installed The well will be closed by a licensed contractor upon completion of its <br /> intended purpose The monitoring well installation will follow procedures generally <br /> L identified in Appendix B, EXPLORATORY BORING AND WELL INSTALLATION <br /> PROCEDURES as supplemented with included "Geoprobe ® 1 0-in x 2,5-in OD <br /> Prepacked Screen Monitoring Well, Standard Operating Procedure, Technical Bulletin <br /> No 99-2500" <br /> 3 3 1 Site Specific Monitoring Well Construction <br /> The Geoprobe ® 1 0-in x 2 5-in OD Prepacked Screen Monitoring Well detail has been <br /> selected for cost savings over the more common 2- IN monitoring well A single <br /> monitoring well has been agreed to with the PHSIEHD Move in costs for the one well <br /> plus cost of construction of the larger diameter well exceed estimated costs of the 1-IN <br /> diameter well Specific bailing, development devices and water depth probe will be <br /> utilized in similar fashion as with larger monitoring wells but with a reduced diameter <br /> Theo opportunity to penetrate a contaminated perched or "shallow contained water zone" <br /> Pp Y <br /> found during earlier testing in the sandy formation at 29 5 feet bgs , poses a risk of <br /> ' cross contamination as the bore hole is extended downwards Although this potential <br /> problem can be addressed with conventional hollow flight methods, the "double sleeve" <br /> design of the Geoprobe ® tool addresses the problem simply and in a faster fashion <br /> Per the manufacturer's representatives, this methodology is currently being employed in <br /> the Madera County area, 100 miles south of Acampo <br /> Phone conversation Barber/Geoprobe,October 18,2000 <br /> 3-2 <br />
