' FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> Shallow Soil <br /> 22 November 2004 <br /> ' D K Barber P E and Associates assisted Western Oil and Spreading staff as they <br /> carred out soil sampling towards the characterization of sod impacted with petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons This round of sampling was to support anticipated remediation of shallow <br /> zone soil contamination east and north east of the tank area near the northeast comer of <br /> i the site This report summarizes findings of that investigation with recommendations for <br /> ■ further action <br /> ' The studied site is on approximately 2 13 acres of relatively flat, covered by aggregate <br /> road base, improved land hosting a liquid asphalt and lignin based road oil storage and <br /> imixing facility The site's industrial history has been chronicled back to 1955 Currently <br /> there are 16 above ground storage tanks containing petroleum hydrocarbon, water or <br /> lignin based products The site is active In 1985 the business was purchased by Mike <br /> and John Telfer and renamed Western Oil and Spreading, Inc The site is located at <br /> 19256 N Highway 99, several hundred yards east of the frontage road The relatively flat <br /> site is bordered on the north by an open field (previously an apple orchard), to the east <br /> and south by open fields and to the west by several homes, separating it from the <br /> ' frontage road It is one quarter mile south of Woodbridge Road in Acampo, CA within <br /> San Joaquin County <br /> ' <br /> 1.1 Work Prior to November 2002 <br /> The following is extracted from an earlier Gallardo & Associates report land more recent <br /> ' <br /> reporting by D K Barber & Associates Two 20,000 GA underground storage tank (UST)s <br /> used to store liquid cutback asphalt, one 1,000 GA UST used to store diesel fuel, and one <br /> 500 GA UST used to store gasoline fuel were removed from the site property Analytical <br /> results collected during the tank removals indicated petroleum impacted sod within the <br /> iUSTs' cavity location <br /> LIMITED SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION REPORT for 19256 N HIGHWAY 99, <br /> ACAMPO, CALIFORNIA"Rafael L Gallardo, R G No 6834, May 24, 1999 <br /> 1 <br />
