i
UpgradierO Environmental Consultants
February 23, 1996
Mr. Steve Sasson
Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County
304 E. Weber
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Work Plan for Site Assessment
Gillies Trucking
3931 Newton Road
Stockton,CA
Dear Mr. Sasson:
Mr. Ken Gillies of Gillies Trucking has received your recent directive to perform additional
assessment of the extent of contamination at the Gillies Trucking yard in Stockton, and has authorized
Upgradient Environmental Consultants to prepare the enclosed work plan for further drilling. We
propose to drill five borings in an effort to fully define the soil and groundwater plumes. A mobile
laboratory will be used to analyze soil and water samples on site and make it possible to select alternate
drill sites if results from the first boring(s) indicate that other sites might more precisely delineate the
extent of contamination.
Enclosed with the work plan are a Site Health and Safety Plan and two drilling permit
applications, one for the borings on the Gillies property and one for the wells on the adjacent property.
Also enclosed are the permit fees. We are currently attempting to contact the adjacent property owner
for drilling access, and will forward written permission when we have received it. We would like to
perform the field work during the last week of March, but access to drill sites in the vacant field south
of the Gillies property may not be possible until the field dries out later in the spring.
Sincerely,
Victor B.
