I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Network Environmental Systems, Inc.®, (NES) was retained by Mr. Robert Van
Spronsen, with BFC Properties, to perform a chemical contamination evaluation at the
property located at 26237 Miller Avenue, in Escalon, California, which is known to
have been affected by clandestine drug laboratory activity.
On June 24, 2004, a site visit was performed by Jennifer Bailey, Industrial Hygienist, at
which time a visual inspection was performed, and surface wipe samples were collected
from surfaces within the kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, and both bathrooms. Soil
samples were also collected from two locations outdoors that were suspect areas of
chemical disposal, and a water sample was collected from the septic tank located behind
the house. Wipe samples were analyzed for methamphetamine and precursor chemical
concentration by Alturas Analytics, Inc.
The wipe sample results revealed methamphetamine and precursor chemical
contamination present on all the surfaces sampled inside the house and inside the septic
system. The soil samples were non-detect for methamphetamine and iodide. Work
was performed under the direction of David B. Durst, Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Refer to SECTION V of this report for conclusions and recommendations.
II. PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION
A. TASKS
The following tasks were included in the evaluation:
♦ A site visit was performed by Ms. Jennifer Bailey, Industrial Hygienist, to
obtain preliminary information, perform a visual inspection and sample for
methamphetamines and the precursors of methamphetamine production:
chloride, iodide, phosphorous, and pH.
♦ Laboratory analysis was completed on the samples.
♦ Sample data were reviewed, analyzed and a report of findings was prepared.
B.
