during the manufacturing process. Surface samples were collected using
sterile 4" diameter Whatman filter paper wetted with 5 ml of distilled water as
recommended by the laboratory. The filter paper was wiped over the areas of
concern and then placed in a uniquely numbered, sterile glass jars.
Approximately 100 cm2 of surface was wiped for each individual sample. For
each composite sample, 100 cm2 of surface was wiped at each location in the
composite sample, so that the total area sampled ranged from 200 to 300 cm2.
♦ Bulk samples of soil were collected by scooping a small amount of soil into a
sterile jar with a small shovel.
♦ A liquid sample was collected from the septic tank by dipping a sterile glass
jar taped to a six foot PVC pipe in the tank. The water was then transferred to
a second sterile glass jar.
♦ Disposable nitrile gloves were used for each sample collected and changed
between sample locations to prevent sample cross contamination.
♦ Samples were collected from the following locations:
• Kitchen Ceiling (1 locations);
• Kitchen Cabinets (3 locations);
• Kitchen Floor (3 locations);
• Master Bathroom Sink/ Counter (2 locations);
• Master Bathroom Toilet and Tub (2 locations);
• Master Bedroom Walls (3 locations);
• Heater Vents in Laundry/Utility Room (1 location);
• Hall Bathroom Sink/ Counter(2 locations);
• Hallway Ceiling and Door Vent (2 locations);
• Northwest Bedroom Walls (3 locations);
• Soil Next to House (1 bulk sample);
• Soil Next to Irrigation Well/Pump (1 bulk sample); and
• The Septic System Tank(1 liquid sample).
BFC Properties 4 NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INC.m
Preliminary Site Assessment NES Project Number 04-261
26237 Miller Avenue, Escalon, California
