The pH levels in the soil samples were 5.9 and 5.5 and the pH of the septic
tank water was 6.2.
V. CONCLUSION
PSA SAMPLING
Residual methamphetamine and elevated levels of chloride were identified within wipe
samples taken from all surfaces sampled in the unit. The contamination was greatest on
surfaces in the vicinity of the kitchen, in the central hallway next to the living room and
on the heating unit in the laundry/utility room. The presence of these chemicals may
pose a health risk to building occupants, thus remediation work should be completed at
the property prior to re-occupancy.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The following site remediation is recommended based on visual observations and
sampling data obtained at the site. These recommendations are intended to be used as a
general guideline of remediation procedures only, and cannot be solely relied upon by the
Remediation Contractor ("Contractor"). These recommendations should be used in
addition to specific agreements with BFC Properties, the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department and Code Enforcement requirements, the standard
operating procedures established by the Contractor and the Contractor's expertise in the
area of clandestine drug laboratory remediation. Implementation of these
recommendations does not guarantee nor warrant that the structure will be free of
residual contamination from methamphetamine production.
Due to the nature of the chemical hazards and handling requirements associated with this
remediation, the work should be performed by a licensed contractor holding a Hazardous
Substances Removal Certification. The remediation contractor should contact the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department prior to the start of any remediation
work to ensure the work is completed in accordance with San Joaquin County
requirements.
♦ Porous building materials are often not able to be adequately cleaned of residual
contamination from methamphetamine production and typically require removal
BFC Properties 11 NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INC.
Preliminary Site Assessment NES Project Number 04-261
26237 Miller Avenue, Escalon, California
