This summary was prepared by Exxon's contracted <br /> environmental consultant,EA Engineering, Science,and Technology, (EA),of Lafayette,California. <br /> Exxon and EA have been working persistently toward remediation of the site. There have been many delays caused <br /> mostly by permitting,and most recently with the discussions raised by Shell Oil Company,who operates a station <br /> located in the upgradient direction from the property. However,Exxon and/or EA have been in constant <br /> communication with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division to develop an alternative strategy that <br /> should allow us to install a system while the other issues are being addressed. Also, interim remedial product <br /> skimmers have been set in place to assist in the remediation until a full system is installed. <br /> Exxon is,and has been, eager to get a system installed at the site. To date Exxon has spent in excess of$350,000.00 <br /> during the investigation,design,and permitting work which has been completed for the site. Also,more recently, <br /> Exxon contracted EA for an additional amount of$16,500.00 to begin the first stages of the system installation. A <br /> capital budget is currently being set up to purchase equipment,and complete the installation. This may cost an <br /> additional fifty to one hundred thousand dollars. Upon completion of the system installation,an operations and <br /> maintenance budget will be set up to ensure that the system is running efficiently and effectively throughout its <br /> operation. <br /> Exxon would agree to meet with you and/or your mother,along with any trustees of the property,jointly with San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Officials to discuss the site in more detail. <br /> if you have any questions or comments,please do not hesitate to contact me at the above listed phone number. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Marla D.
