3. MONITORING AND SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PLANS <br /> During the field pilot test, both monitoring data (field data) and samples for laboratory analysis <br /> will be collected Groundwater samples will be collected periodically to assess the effect that <br /> chemical oxidation is having on groundwater quality and hydrocarbon impacted groundwater <br /> Soil vapor samples will be collected from soil vapor extraction wells to assess the extent to <br /> which hydrocarbons are volatilized, and for oxygen and ozone content Additionally, ambient air <br />' will be monitored to assess if any hydrocarbons or ozone are impacting ambient air The <br /> monitoring and sampling and analysis plans for groundwater, soil vapor, and ambient air are <br /> presented below The location of all wells and ambient air sampling stations are identified on <br />' Figure 2 Well construction details are included in Table 1 <br /> Sampling and Analysis Plan <br /> Groundwater and soil vapor samples will be collected during the pilot test Groundwater <br /> samples will be collected prior to the pilot test and after 1 week of operation These results will <br /> be compared with analytical data collected during the laboratory benchscale test to assess the <br /> validity of benchscale testing results (i e , no adverse impacts to groundwater quality) The wells <br /> selected for sampling are located crossgradient and within the source area, as well as upgradient <br /> and downgradient of the source area, and at appropriate depths Additionally, the infection point <br /> pairs, IPIA and IPIB, IP2A and IP2B, and IP3A and IP3B, will also be used as groundwater <br /> . monitoring points Figure 2 shows the location of the injection and monitoring wells As some <br /> hydrocarbons may be volatilized, the soil vapor extraction system will be operated to abate <br /> hydrocarbons or ozone in the vadose zone during the pilot test <br /> The tables below present the sampling and analysis plan for groundwater and soil vapor for <br /> laboratory analysis (Table A), and the types of field data that will be collected (Table B) <br /> ITable A- Laboratory Groundwater and Soil Vapor Sampling Plan <br /> Sample Media Wells/Sampling Analyte Analysis Sampling Frequency and Notes <br /> Points Method <br /> Groundwater As presented in Table 2 As presented in As presented Pre-pilot test,at the end of the <br /> Table 2 in Table 2 first week of infection, and every <br /> other week thereafter(pending <br /> favorable results from the first <br /> week of sampling), and at Ieast 1 <br /> month after the end of the pilot <br /> test <br /> Soil vapor MW2,MW3, MW6 TPH-g, BTEX, EPA 8260 Pre-pilot test,at the end of the <br /> (and RW 1 and MW5 if MTBE first week of injection, and <br /> warranted) monthly thereafter(pending <br /> favorable results from the first <br /> week of sampling), and at least I <br /> month after the end of the pilot <br /> test <br /> G 1Pro)ccts173942VAASTER\WP\WP07051Ozonc Infection Pilot Tat Work Plan doc <br />
