A soil boring was advanccd by <br /> hollow stem auger drill rig to a depth of 40 feet next to the leach pit. Samples from this boring <br /> were collected for analysis at depths of 27, 35 and 40 fxt. <br /> During the wxk of March 24, 1997 confirmation soil sarap._s were collected at three locations <br /> or the northeast portion of the site. The septic tank was Ionated and accessed and liquid and <br /> sludge samples collected for analysis. <br /> LABORATORY ANALYSES <br /> As specified in the approved Workplan, samples submitted to the laboratory were analyzer) for <br /> various constituents either known or suspected to be present on the property. The suite of <br /> analyses for all samples included Total Recoverable Petroleum. Hydroc;-arbons and Total Lead. <br /> Samples collected from the sump/septic/leachfield system were also analyzed for Volatile <br /> Organic Compounds (solvents, etc.), gasoline and diesel hydrocarbons. <br /> Based on the Total Lead results, certain samples were further analyzed for Soluble Lead. The <br /> sample with the highest petroleum hydrocarbon concentration was also analyzed for Toxicity by <br /> the 96 hour Static Acute Bio-Assay. <br /> ANALYTICAL RESULTS D n� <br /> Lead; (_ <br /> With the exception of soil samples collected at a depth of 1 foot on the northeastern <br /> portion of the property and the samples collected from within the septic tank Total Lead <br /> was found at background levels (+/- 10 ppm) or at slightly elevated concentrations. <br /> The samples from the northeastern portion of the property (locations A. B, C and <br /> confirmation locations AA, BB and CC) contained moderately elevated concentrations <br /> of Total Lead (66 to 200 ppm). These do not exceed the CA Title 22 Threshold Limit <br /> Concentration ("TTLC") of 1,000 ppm. The equivalent soluble concentrations in these <br /> samples (7 to 22 ppm) do however exceed the Title 22 Soluble Threshold Limit <br /> Concentration ("STLC") of 5 ppm. As such the soil in this area has the characteristic <br /> of a hazardous waste. <br /> The sample of the liquid from within the septic tank contained soluble lead below the <br /> STLC concentration (2.6 ppm). The sample of sludge from within the septic tank <br /> contained 120 ppm total lead and 0.6 ppm soluble lead. These are below their respective <br /> TTLC and STLC criteria. <br /> Petroleum Hydrr�rbons; <br /> Samples collected at a depth of 1 foot on the northeastern portion of the property <br /> contained moderately elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. The suite of <br /> analyses run on these samples identifies the contaminant as being characteristic of oily <br />
