r r
12 July 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1263
• Boring P-6 was advanced to a total depth of 15 feet bsg near the northeast corner of the
northern parcel (400 North Sacramento Street), approximately 110 feet east of the North
Sacramento Street right-of-way. (Figure 2)
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
— Samples were collected from all six borings at discreet 5-foot intervals from 5 feet bsg to the total
depth of the borings using a 1.25-inch Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four 6-inch
_ brass sleeves. All sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with
water prior to each sampling run to minimize the chance of cross-contamination. For each soil
sample collected, both ends of a middle sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped, and sealed
with tape. The samples were then labeled, stored on ice, and transported under chain of custody to
Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL), a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory. A total of six selected samples were analyzed for:
.. • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d,
respectively) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)and fuel additives methyl tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA), 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),and
1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) in accordance with EPA Method 826013; and
• Organochlorine pesticides in accordance with EPA Method 8081 A.
3.3. SOIL LOGGING
After sample preservation, soil was extruded from the remaining sleeves and field-screened utilizing
an organic vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo
Environmental 580B, 10.0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene). The soil was also described visually in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Soil boring logs exhibiting soil
— profiles are included in Appendix A.
4.0. FINDINGS
The stratigraphy and ground water hydrogeology underlying the site were characterized from field
descriptions. Hydrocarbon impact to soil and ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis.
Advanced GeoEvironmental,Inc.
