Mr James L Barton
October 29, 2004
Page 6
Groundwater Sampling Analytical Results
Groundwater samples collected from well MW-9R were submitted to CLS for analysis of TPHg
by EPA Method 8015 Modified and volatile organic compounds using EPA Method 8260B
y Groundwater sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and copies of the laboratory
analytical reports are included in Attachment D TPHg and benzene concentrations are
depicted in Figures 8 and 9
Il Well Destruction for MW-9
Groundwater monitoring well MW-9 was destroyed on August 16, 2004, by removing its well box,
I followed by over-drilling the casing and annulus to a total depth of 71 feet bgs using 8-inch
hollow stem augers Prior to well destruction, the well's total depth was measured to a total
depth of 64 8 feet bgs Upon completion, the over-drilled monitoring well borehole was
backfilled to within 1 5 feet of surface grade with neat cement grout emplaced from the bottom
up via a tremie pipe The remaining 1 5 feet was backfilled with quick-set concrete dyed black
to match the surrounding area Field methods and procedures to be used by ENSR during
drilling and destruction of MW-9 are summarized in Attachment A.
Soil Stockpile Waste
Drilling activities generated approximately 25 cubic yards of soil cuttings during the installation
of MW-9R and destruction of MW-9 The soil cuttings were placed in ten 55-gallon Department
of Transportation-rated (DOT) drums and temporarily stored onsite One soil sample was
I l collected from the drums and submitted to CLS The sample was submitted for analysis of
TPHg, BTEX, and VOCs using previously described methods Additionally, the sample was
analyzed for total lead using EPA Method 6010B On August 23, 2004, a total of twenty-one
55-gallon DOT drums of soil cuttings and three 55-gallon DOT drums of ansate water generated
during the installation of groundwater monitoring wells MW-28, MW-29, MW-30 and MW-9R and
destruction of groundwater monitoring well MW-9 were transported as non-hazardous waste to
IForward landfill in Manteca, CA A copy of the waste manifest is included as Attachment J
Purge Water Waste
I1 Non-hazardous purge water generated during third quarter 2004 groundwater monitoring and
sampling activities was transported to Evergreen Oil Company in Newark, California, on
August 27, 2004
f i f
Well Survey
s On August 26, 2004, groundwater monitoring wells, and remediation wells were surveyed for X,
Y, and Z coordinates by a California-licensed land surveyor in accordance with State of
' California Assembly Bill AB2886 The top-of-casing elevation of the wells and ground surface
elevation were surveyed relative to mean sea level within 0 01 foot A copy of the survey results
E is included as Attachment K
I11DcsacramentolprojectslProjects\06940\5098-2931FinaWepoTt\ouarterty Mondonng Reports15098 3rd CW 04-QMR doc
ICelet7 affno 3; Years ofxcelr rwe III c+IvrrrtnmenfP 5, rVice5
,
