OIL TRANSFER PROCEDURE- Continued <br /> During Oil Transfer <br /> • During the entire time that oil is being transferred to a container, the person <br /> transferring the oil must continually monitor the transfer process; [49 CFR § <br /> 177.834 (i)] <br /> • Container level gauges, if present, will be continuously monitored; [Best <br /> Management Practice] <br /> • Tools that are likely to reduce the effectiveness of the closure of any valve of <br /> an oil storage container will not be used. [49 CFR § 177.834 (f)] <br /> After Transfer <br /> • Examine the lower most outlets of the vehicle for leakage prior to the departure <br /> of an oil transfer vehicle. If necessary, tighten, adjust, or replace lower most <br /> outlets of the vehicle to prevent oil leakage; [40 CFR § 112.7 (h)(3)] <br /> • Close and otherwise secured manholes and valves associated with an oil <br /> storage container after transferring oil.
