problem of overdraft of groundwater could create problem with
increased water demand.
• The increasing intensity of land uses in the project area would
create additional demand for sewage disposal facilities.
Although the project does not contribute to the need for
wastewater treatment facilities, other cumulative developments
would have impacts on this service. Regional wastewater
collection and treatment requirements (Stockton area of influ-
ence) were recently analyzed by the City of Stockton and are
the subject of ongoing study. The needs of cumulative projects
are largely taken into account via these studies and no adverse
impacts are anticipated.
• Electric energy demands within the PG&E service area are moni-
tored and forecasted by the company continually. Project '
developers would be required to contract for power services
from the utility and would have to meet utility requirements
for system hookup and power consumption. Cumulative projects
are not expected to adversely affect the provision of electri-
cal energy to the greater area.
• Fire protection and paramedic service to the project area is
currently weak and a need to improve emergency services hash
been identified.
• Cumulative projects would increase the need for police protec-
tion services in the project area. The southern area of Stock-
ton is rapidly developing and extension of law enforcement
services by the City of Stockton has been identified as a seri-
ous problem (City of Stockton 1987) .
• Solid waste collection and disposal services continue to bea
growth issue as the area expands. The present landfill (on
Austin Road) has a remaining life expectancy of 10 to 12 years.
Alternatives are being investigated, which include the expan- '
sion of the existing facility and/or utilization of the County
landfill .
4-3
101-36.R3 4/10/89
