After successfully leasing then owning this site for more than forty years, we
find ourselves in a position of not being able to sell the property (due to the
contamination) and meet our financial obligations. Presently we have leased the
site as a light automobile repair facility and have abandoned the tanks.
This letter will serve as a notice that we are attempting to establish
responsibility for the remediation of the site and more Importantly maintain
compliance for eligibility for the underground storage tank cleanup fund (our
placement on priority list "B" was x`293 as of April 6, 1992).
A possible solution between the two state agencies might include consideration of
some type of interim financing and/or a memo of understanding stating that the
State cleanup fund will guarantee the cleanup of the site up to one million dollars
so that the Dept. of Commerce will accept our loan application.
I sincerely hope a concerted effort to solve this problem can be found in the
immediate future.
Sincerely,
7
Russell F.
