Dear Fir. Long: <br /> This letter report suneoarizes the soil remediation activities completed by <br /> Canonie Environmental Services Corporation (Canonie) at the PDM Strocal <br /> Inc.'s site located in Stockton, California. Soil remediation activities <br /> were performad in accordance with the Soil Remediation Work Plan submitted <br /> to Pis. Diane Hinson of the San Joaquin Local Health District on May i2, <br /> w 1989 as amended in a letter sent to Mr. Ron Valinoti on July 25, 1989. <br /> i A 10,000-gallon underground storage tank was originally removed from the <br /> location shown on Figure 1 by Western Meter Service on March 9, 1989. - <br /> y During ;`cmoval of the tank, which was usedto stere d ase] fuel, discolored <br /> sail with a diesel odor was noted at the west end pf the tank. This arca <br /> was underlying the farmer location of the tank's surface pump. A soil i <br /> sample taken ;roar .the western sidewall of the excavation confirmed the ' <br /> presenceof diesel fuel in the soil at a concentration of 350: milligrams <br /> ` per kiingram (mg/kg)'. A soil sample taken from the eastern sidewal] of the <br /> excavation yi6lded nondetectab]e concentrations. <br /> E <br /> Soil Remediation Activities <br /> On June 22.And 23, 1989, remediation activities were performed by Canonie <br /> to remove contaminated soil from the origins, tank excavation. As <br /> specified in .the Work Plan, a backhoe was used to expand the excavation to ' <br /> the west.until .clean.sidewalls were encountered.
