2.3 Layout of All Underground Tank and Piping Systems Properly Labeled for Content:
The area of the former tanks, lines, and pumps are shown on Figure 2.
2.4 Laboratory Results for Initial Soil Sampling:
Initial soil sampling was performed but laboratory results were not obtainable to date.
2.5 Estimates of Liquid Quantity and Composition Leaked:
No estimate of liquid quantity can be made with existing information. The constituents detected
in the soil samples are typically derived from gasoline.
2.6 Topography, Geology, Hydrology:
The site is situated on level terrain underlain by flood basin deposits of Pleistocene and Holocene
age. These sediments are composed of clay, silt, and some sand. In the San Joaquin Valley,
the deposits were estimated to be as much as 100 feet thick (USGS Professional Paper 1401-C,
1988). Because of their fine-grained nature, the flood basin deposits in general do not yield
much water to wells and impede the vertical movement of water. The majority of groundwater
used for irrigation and drinking water supplies is extracted from more permeable zones beneath
the flood basin deposits. Depth to first groundwater, based on other RESNA projects in the
area, is estimated to be approximately 15 feet below grade. Regional groundwater flow beneath
the site is expected to be to the north-northeast toward the Port of Stockton located
approximately 1 mile north of the project site.
2.7 Proximity of Private, Municipal and Irrigation Wells:
Well location data within a one-half mile radius of the site have been requested from the
Department of Water Resources (DWR) but have not yet been obtained. Well proximity data
will be presented in the next report.
3.0 METHODS AND PROCEDURES
A subsurface site investigation will be performed to characterize current soil and groundwater
` conditions at the site. The investigation will consist of drilling and sampling 3 soil borings,
R12I891.TJL 2
r
