2.4 Estimates of Liquid Quantity and Composition Leaked:
No estimate of the quantity of liquid leaked can be made based on existing information The
constituents detected in the soil samples show an analytical profile that is typical of gasoline
2.5 Regional Topography, Geology, Hydrology:
The Site is situated on level terrain underlain by flood basin deposits of Pleistocene and
Holocene age These sediments are composed of clay, silt, and some sand In the San Joaquin
1 Valley, the Flood Basin Deposits (Holocene) have been estimated to be as much as 100 feet thick
(USGS 1986). Because of their fine-grained nature, the flood basin deposits in general do not
yield much water to wells and impede the vertical movement of water The majority of
groundwater used for irrigation and drinking water supplies is extracted from more permeable
' zones beneath the flood basin deposits Regional groundwater depth, based on other RESNA
projects within one-half mile of the Site, is estimated to be approximately 12 to 15 feet below
grade Groundwater flow beneath the Site is likely to be to the northeast, toward a pumping
depression located east of Stockton (San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation
District, Spring 1991), however, considerable variation in the groundwater gradient and flow
direction exists in the Stockton area due to local influences
Surface water bodies in the general vicinity of the subject Site include the Port of Stockton
' approximately 4800 feet to the north, and the San Joaquin River and Stockton Regional Waste j
Water Ponds located approximately 2200 feet southwest of the Site
2.6 Well Location Survey:
' Well location data within a one-half mile radius of the Site have been reviewed at the
Department of Water Resources (DWR) Central District office and are summarized in Table 1
The DWR data includes one domestic well, eight monitoring wells, one industrial well, one
i
municipal well, and one irrigation well In addition, nearby sites with known monitoring wells
and/or groundwater remediation systems are located at 1444 Tillie Lewis Drive (6 monitoring
wells), 2500 Navy Drive (4 monitoring wells), and 2324 Navy Drive (3 monitoring wells)
A-61292 TL 2
