e'
A S S O C I A T E S I N C
Following soil and groundwater sample collection, the borings were backfilled with neat cement
grout to the ground surface
' 2.2 Soil Sample Analysis
p Y
' Soil and groundwater samples from the borings were placed on ice and transported under chain-
of-custody protocol to Argon Laboratories in Ceres, California Soil samples from borings S1311,
' SB 12, SB 13, SB 14, and SB 15 were analyzed for TPHg and total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPHd) by EPA method 8015 modified, BTEX by EPA method 8020, methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), and additional
oxygenate fuel additives including tertiary amyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether (RIPE), ethyl
tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) by EPA method 8260B
2.3 Groundwater Sampling and Analysis
One groundwater sample was collected from each boring at the depth groundwater was first
1 encountered, approximately 5 to 19 feet bgs A Geoprobe® Screen Point 15 Groundwater
Sampler will be threaded onto the leading end of the Geoprobe when the desired groundwater
sampling depth is reached While the sampler was advanced, O-ring seals and an expendable
drive point provided a watertight system to ensure sample integrity
When the tool has been advanced to the desired depth, extension rods were sent downhole to
' brace the bottom of the sample screen as the tool casing was retracted When the casing was
retracted, up to 41-inches of screen with slot sizes of 0 004 inches was exposed Teflon tubing
with a check valve attached to one end was inserted down the casing until it was immersed in
' groundwater Water was then pumped through the tubing and to the ground surface by
oscillating the tubing up and down
Groundwater samples from borings S1311, SB 12, SB 13, SB14, and SB 15 were analyzed for
TPHg and TPHd by EPA method 8015 modified, BTEX by EPA method 8020, and MTBE,
' EDB, 1,2-DCA, and additional oxygenate fuel additives including TAME, DIPE, ETBE, and
TBA by EPA method 8260B
' 3.0 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
3.1 Geology
1 The soils beneath the site generally consisted of silty clays, organic silty clays from the surface to
a depth of about 24 feet below grade At 24 to 26 feet below grade, the maximum depth
advanced, fine sands and sandy silts were encountered Boring logs containing more detailed
descriptions can be found in Appendix A
' W\wordpw\25803\sub_mv doe 3
