• A S S O C I A T E S I N C
sampled well A dedicated disposable bailer was used to collect each water sample Field
parameters and purged volumes are shown on well purge logs included in Attachment 1
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Groundwater samples from the monitoring wells were placed on ice and transported under chain-
of-custody protocol to Sequoia Analytical laboratory Groundwater samples from wells MWI,
MW4, MW6 and MW7 were analyzed for TPHg and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPHd) by EPA method 8015 modified, BTEX by EPA method 8020, methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), and additional
oxygenate fuel additives including tertiary amyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) by EPA method 8260B
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were detected in wells MWI, MW2, MW3,
MW4, and MW6 However, aromatic hydrocarbons were detected only in samples from wells
MWI, MW2, and MW3 Only benzene exceeded established the California Primary Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) for drinking water in MWI and MW2 with concentrations of 380 ppb
and 230 ppb, respectively
No oxygenate fuel additives were detected in any of the samples above laboratory method
detection limits
Analytical results for groundwater are summarized in Table 2 Laboratory data sheets and chain
of custody documentation are included as Attachment 2
FREE PRODUCT REMOVAL
Free product was been monitored and removed from MW2 on a monthly basis from the time a
passive skimmer was installed in this well on June 27, 1997 until December 1999 Due to the
minimal amount of free product being recovered (<0 5 liters per quarter) in comparison to the
relatively large capacity of the skimmer's recovery reservoir (>2 liters), the free product skimmer
has been monitored only on a periodic basis and at minimum once per quarter, beginning in
March 2000 During the Third quarter 2000, a total of less than 0 1 liters of product was
removed
To date a total of approximately 17 04 liters of product have been removed from the skimmer
placed in MW2 A summary of product volume removed and previous product analytical data is
presented in Table 3 Field notes associated with free product removal during the reporting
period are included in Attachment 1
92054 00061QUARTLYI3QR-2000 DOC 3
