W wzo
L2J
April 13, 2020
FOR: San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Mr.Michael Kith, REHS,Program Manager
Mr.Jeffrey Wong,REHS
1868 Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
PROJECT: Nitrate Loading/Soil Suitability Studies
Robert C. Bowen Property
26783 North Cherokee Lane
Lodi,California 95632
Assessor's Parcel Number: 005-110-13
SR0078905
SUBJECT: Response to EHD Review Document
Reference is made to the attached EHD Review Document dated February 8,2019. I have been asked to
respond to Item 2 of this document. The first sentence of Item 2 states"The data indicates the onsite water
well has elevated level of nitrate and may not be a suitable source for the potable water supply for new
development." Attached, is Page 5 and Table 3 from my Studies summarizing the Well Water Analysis.
As noted, the Analyte in column one is for"Nitrate as Nitrate,"not"Nitrate as Nitrogen." The
concentration found was 15 ppm in column two. The third column indicates the Maximum Contaminant
Level(MCL)to be 45 ppm.
When nitrate test results are issued as"nitrate as nitrate,"the MCL is 45 ppm(actually 44.43 ppm). When
nitrate test results are issued as"nitrate as nitrogen,"the MCL is 10 ppm. As noted on the A&L
Laboratories Water Analysis Report, the Analyte tested was for Nitrate, not Nitrate-Nitrogen. Therefore,
the water test results are actually one-third of the MCL for nitrate. This nitrate test result was confirmed
with Mr.Robert Butterfield, owner of A&L Laboratories West.
Respectfully submitted, 4tofessio
a,aon D ChesdBf`
CHESNEY CONSULTING q
No.75479
Don Cheney, PE `Pfafe C;vi1 tr`
Registered Civil Eng' er#C75479 of Calito
Attachments:
1.
