31 January 2005
• AGE-NC Project No 99-0592
' 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
The collected samples were transferred into laboratory supplied 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile
' organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 mi 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The
sample containers were then labeled with the well designation, date, time and the sampler's initials
The samples were transported in a chilled container under chain of custody to Cal Tech
' Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified
laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed for
' Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015M,
' Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) andmeth 1 tertiary butyl ether
SKI`in accordance with EPA Method 8or EPA Metho 260 and
• Fuel additives di-isopropyl ether(DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), MTBE, tertiary
' amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol, ethanol, 1,2-dibromoethane
(EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
28 September and 17 November 2004 Laboratory analysis of ground water samples were used to
' quantify the impact to ground water
' 3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
On 28 September 2004, depth to ground water was measured between 73 02 feet and 73 20 feet
' below the top of the well casings, ground water elevations at the site ranged from 46 37 feet below
mean sea level(MSL)in MW-4 to 46 79 feet below MSL in well MW-2 The ground water flow was
directed toward the west-southwest with a hydraulic gradient calculated at approximately
' 0 005 foot/foot (ft/ft)
' On 17 November 2004,depth to ground water was measured between 69 14 feet and 69 44 feet below
the top of the well casings, ground water elevations at the site ranged from 42 72 feet below MSL
(MW-3)to 42 79 feet below MSL(MW-4) The ground water flow was directed toward the northeast
' with a hydraulic gradient calculated at approximately 0 0006 ft/ft
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1 `
