RISER PIPE CAP PREPARATION. <br />The riser pipe cap must have a 3/8" tapped hole for <br />passage of probe wires. Cap kits with pre -drilled holes for <br />a standard 4" riser pipe are available from Veeder-Root. <br />Order Kit Number 312020-952, one for each probe. <br />If a kit has not been ordered, perform the following: <br />.111 WARNING: DO NOT PERFORM DRILLING <br />AND TAPPING PROCEDURES INA HAZARD- <br />OUS AREA. DRILLING AND TAPPING CAN <br />CAUSE SPARKS AND IGNITE VOLATILE <br />FUMES AND LIQUIDS FOUND IN A CLASS I, <br />GROUP D HAZARDOUS LOCATION. FAILURE <br />TO COMPLY COULD RESULT IN DEATH, SE- <br />RIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY <br />LOSS AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. <br />1. Use a standard 4" tank locking cap, "Evertite" or <br />equivalent, with standard ring adaptor. <br />2. Drill and tap the cap for a 3/8" x 18 NPT cord grip thread <br />(refer to Figure 29, "Probe Riser Cap Modification"). <br />3. Install a water -tight cable bushing in the 3/8" threaded <br />hole in the top of the cap. Use an appropriate thread <br />sealant to ensure water -tightness. Remove the probe from its box and place it on its side. <br />Remove the probe riser adaptors from the Magnetostric- <br />tive Probe Installation Kit box (see to Figure 30 or 31). <br />Figure 30.
