The stakes are high.
You can't afford to make a wrong
move in hazardous waste manage-
ment. That's why the California
Environmental Protection Agency
created Compliance School.
Compliance School offers affordable
basic training to help facilities achieve
and maintain compliance with state
hazardous waste laws and regula-
tions. The curriculum focuses on
hands-on training, review of Califor-
nia environmental regulatory
requirements and discussion.
The emphasis is on "How to
Comply," not "Everything You
Wanted to Know About
Hazardous Waste."
Compliance School offers instruction
about hazardous waste management
by experienced instructors. Partici-
pants learn through a number of real
world, practical exercises. Sample
formats of some required documents
are reviewed, including contingency
plans, training plans, inspection
schedules, logs and training records.
Compliance School's materials cover
basic concepts and provide refer-
ences for students to use to learn
more.
Who should attend?
Hazardous waste generators, the
general public and governmental
agency staff are eligible to attend
Compliance School training mod-
ules.
Owner/operators and workers at
non-RCRA (Resource Conservation
Recovery Act) on-site treatment
facilities are encouraged to attend.
Personnel from facilities with minor
violations of hazardous waste
management law may be referred,
through a settlement, to attend
Compliance School as an alternative
to some or all of the penalty.
What does it cost?
Cost for each of the four generator
modules is $100. The Tiered Permit-
ting Facility Module is $150. Work-
book and exam fees are additional.
Class size is limited to 18 students.
Call for ! ! on
how you
discount.
Compliance School is a joint effort between a s
Cal/EPA's Department of Toxic Substances Control
and the California Community Colleges. It is 6
administered through the Environmental and Safety Institute
of Bakersfield College.
Classes will be offered at several sites throughout the state.
Classes are conveniently scheduled at night and on weekends.
Generator Modules (4 hours each)
I.
