On March 6, 1981 the State Of California Department 47 Health Services issue <br />an interim status document number CAD 074642901 to Interlake Inc., 1029 <br />South Sacramento Street, Lodi, Ca. On September 9, 1989, Public Health <br />Services -Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) received an anonymous <br />complaint (#89-1961) regarding the storage of ten barrels of waste oil behind <br />the machine shop. According to the complainant, the barrels leak waste oil in <br />the industrial sewer line when it rains. The complaint was originally reported t <br />Dennis Fields, San Joaquin County Office Of Emergency Services, who <br />attempted to get the name of the complainant for further information, but was <br />unsuccessful. Mr. Fields referred the complaint to PHS-EHD for further <br />investigation. <br />On September 29, 1989, an inspection was conducted by Elizabeth Ambacher, <br />Hazardous Materials Specialist, California Department of Health Services; <br />Kasey Foley, R.E.H.S., PHS-EHD; and Steve Mathias, Industrial Engineer, <br />Interlake Inc., to investigate Complaint No. 89-1961. The complaint alleging <br />unlawful storage and disposal of waste oil was not verified during the <br />inspection. However, as a result of the inspection, violations of the hazardous <br />waste statutes and/or regulations were identified as follows: <br />1. Section 66508 (a) (c), Title 22, California Code of Regulations (CCR): <br />Drums containing hazardous waste were not labeled as "hazardous waste". <br />2. Section 67105 (d), Title 22, CCR : The facility did not have an employee <br />training program for handling hazardous waste. <br />On March 2, 1990, a report of violations (R.O.V.), and schedule of corrections <br />was drafted by Kasey Foley. On March 21, 1990 the R.O.V. was mailed to Mr. <br />Steve Mathias, Interlake Inc., 1029 S. Sacramento St. Lodi, CA, 95240. On <br />April 18, 1990, this office received written certification by Steve Mathias, <br />indicating all violations noted on the R.O.V. had been corrected. <br />Interlake Inc. is located on the east and west side of south Sacramento Street <br />in Lodi, and manufactures metal racks called "partitions". The manufacturing <br />process includes molding and painting the racks. Residential housing boarders <br />the north, south, and west sides of the Interlake property and industrial <br />buildings are to the east. This facility employees 156 employees, and operates <br />on two shifts. Interlake Inc. has been operating at this site for the past 25 <br />years. <br />2 <br />
