41
We began our inspection at the main office to view the relevant
documents, including hazardous waste manifests, waste analysis,
contingency plan, and training records. Mathias then led B. Ambacher
and I over to the hazardous waste storage area where 55 gallon drums
were stored on shelves three levels high. Some of the shelves were
labelled "hazardous waste" and some were labelled "empty drums",
however, it was unclear which drums belonged on which shelves.
Additionally, some of the product drums were stored alongside the
hazardous waste drums and Mathias indicated that he was unclear which
drums were product and which were waste. Next to the paint product
drums were some drums containing Methyl Ethyl Ketone which were
awaiting recycling, but were identified as "recycled waste".
Mathias then showed us the shop where the automated paint booths and
air dry lines were located. Next door to the paint booth shop was the
maintenance shop where the Safety Kleen was stored. The 500 gallon
waste oil tank was located in front of this shop. Across the street
was the metal processing building where the metal was molded into
racks via an assembly line type process. The Methyl Ethyl Ketone
recycler was located in this building as well.
This concluded our tour of the facility.
X. DISCUSSION WITH MANAGEMENT
At the conclusion of the inspection we asked Mathias if he had any
questions, he stated he did not: He was told he would be receiving a
copy of our inspection report. At this time, B. Ambacher and I left
the facility.
