EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN <br /> • Remain Calm. Exercise caution. Think about what you are doing during an emergency. <br /> • Get assistance if necessary and immediately alert a Team Leader. Team Leaders are to immediately notify a <br /> Business Unit Manager when an accident involves serious injuries. <br /> • Remove hazards prior to providing first aid or attempting rescue operations. Never endanger yourself. <br /> Protect yourself from blood borne pathogens. <br /> • Follow the instructions of Team Leaders. <br /> • If necessary, initiate evacuation of the facility. <br /> — Have a supervisor use the intercom system to announce the evacuation. (If intercom system applies to <br /> your location.) <br /> — If a supervisor is not available,use the intercom system by dialing#94. When using the intercom system <br /> it is critical that you speak slowly,clearly and loudly. <br /> — If the telephone intercom system fails,have employees with a radio system notify Team Leaders of <br /> evacuation. <br /> • Use the telephone only for emergency communications. Listen for instructions on the intercom system. <br /> EVACUATION PROCEDURES <br /> • Emergency evacuation routes are posted throughout Interlake's buildings and should be periodically reviewed <br /> to familiarize all employees with the escape routes to the department gathering area. <br /> • Procedures For Shutdown of Equipment <br /> — The Team Leader will designate employees operating equipment in the department the responsibility for <br /> shutting down equipment prior to the evacuation of the building. They will then evacuate the building and <br /> report to the Assembly Area. (Perform this process only if employees are not in danger.) <br /> • Start exiting as soon as you receive an evacuation notice. Do not collect personal items. <br /> • The Team Leader is responsible for checking bathrooms and other,non-visible areas before exiting. <br /> • Walk to an exit using a pathway that is free from danger. For your safety and the safety of others,it is very <br /> important that you do not run. <br /> • Provide assistance to any injured persons you encounter. Be courteous to others. <br /> • Do not talk while exiting. Listen for instructions. Follow all instructions. <br /> • Ensure that others are not left in the area that you are evacuating. Close the door behind you when you are the <br /> last person vacating a room. <br /> 2 <br />
