Ll <br />DIESEL <br />SPILL CONTROL <br />Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for details. <br />E <br />® Block off area — keep employees out of the area <br />® If outside, stay upwind or crosswind of spill <br />® Remove sources of ignition <br />Safeway employees will proceed with the following only for small spills (define??) other than protecting storm <br />drains; for large spills contract responders will clean up releases. <br />® Put on required PPE (personal protective clothing) <br />Splash proof chemical goggles <br />Rubber gloves <br />Rubber boots - preferred <br />Protective clothing/slickers (both upper and lower body) <br />An eye wash/shower or running water should be in the area — if not, have bottles of eyewash available <br />® Position container(s) so as to stop further leakage <br />® Plug and patch container(s) leaking <br />® If necessary, plug drains with drain blocker mat <br />® If necessary, build retention dike using absorbent boom <br />® Apply absorbent materials (pigs, pillows, powder, cat litter) to spill area <br />® Place spilled material in a labeled waste drum <br />® Isolate area and make notifications <br />® Complete surface cleanup using dry oil absorbent materials <br />
