A broken <br /> universal waste lamp was left on the shop floor next the open boxes of universal waste lamps. Universal waste lamps <br /> shall be stored in a manner that prevents breakage and release to the environment. All broken universal waste lamps <br /> and releases shall be immediately cleaned and containerized. Immediately store all universal waste lamps in a manner <br /> that prevents breakage and release to the environment. Place the broken universal waste lamp into the box of universal <br /> waste lamps and close the box. This is a minor violation. <br /> 712 CCR 66273.34 Failed to label universal waste to identify type of universal waste. <br /> Four open and unlabeled boxes of universal waste lamps are in the production shop along the east wall. A universal <br /> waste battery was found on the shop floor with the date of January 27, 2006. This battery was not labeled as a <br /> universal waste battery. Universal waste shall be marked with the words "Universal Waste" and the type of waste <br /> (batteries, mercury containing equipment, lamps, electronic devices, CRTs, CRT glass). Immediately label these <br /> wastes and ensure that all universal wastes are labeled with the required information. This is a minor violation. <br /> 713 CCR 66273.35 Stored UW onsite greater than one year or was unable to demonstrate the time UW has been stored. <br /> Four open and unlabeled boxes of universal waste lamps are in the production shop along the east wall. Facility has <br /> not demonstrated when these universal waste lamps became a universal waste. A universal waste battery was found <br /> on the shop floor with the date of January 27, 2006. This battery was not labeled as a universal waste battery. This <br /> universal waste battery has been on site longer than one year. Universal waste may be accumulated for no longer than <br /> one year from the date the universal waste was generated. The universal waste handler shall be able to demonstrate <br /> the length of time that the universal waste has been accumulated. Since it could not be demonstrated how long the <br /> universal waste lamps were stored on site, immediately dispose of this waste and submit a copy of the disposal receipt <br /> to the EHD. Since the universal waste battery has been on site longer than one year, immediately dispose of this waste <br /> and submit a copy of the disposal receipt to the EHD. This is a minor violation. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification form to the EHD with a statement <br /> documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each violation, and any supporting <br /> paperwork, by 12-12-14. <br /> Consent to perform the inspection, take photos and collect samples was given by Ignacio Avalar, Vice President. <br /> Please be aware as of January 1, 2013, all businesses are required to submit all hazardous materials information <br /> online to the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov.
