2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is a private residence located on the east side of Nowell Road in Thornton, <br /> California. The former UST was located on the south side of the residence, approximately 30 <br /> feet south of the garage and twenty feet north of the property boundary. The Tri-Valley <br /> Growers facility, located south of the Lopez property, includes former USTs and a forklift <br /> �. shop within 50 feet of the southern site boundary. <br /> 3.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> The purpose of the investigation will be to (1) further delineate the extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-impacted soil in the vicinity of the farmer on-site dispenser, (2) delineate the <br /> lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted groundwater from the on-site UST, and (3) <br /> prepare a Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report conforming with the requirements <br /> +.• of the Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for reporting. <br /> 4.0 METHODOLOGY <br /> This Workplan includes descriptions of methodologies anticipated for this investigation. <br /> Appendix A of this Workplan comprises Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for those <br /> methodologies that will be used for the scope of services described herein, and also SOPS for <br /> techniques that may be necessary for future phases of investigation. The SOPS are detailed <br /> descriptions of methodologies for various routine tasks. <br /> 4.1 Subsurface Investigation <br /> Obtain boring and monitoring well construction permits prior to mobilization. <br /> • Notify Underground Services Alert a minimum of 72 hours prior to drilling. <br /> • Advance five borings to a minimum depth of 20 feet below grade, or two sample <br /> `+ intervals (10') past the deepest sample exhibiting evidence of impact by petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in subjective field screening analyses. Proposed bore hole locations are <br /> presented in Figure 3. <br /> • Drill spoils will be stored in 55-gallon drums at an on-site location specified by the <br /> owner. Decontamination water will be placed in DOT Approved drums and stored at <br /> an on-site location specified by the owner. <br /> • Sample soil at 5-foot intervals (commencing at a depth of 5 feet below grade) in each <br /> of the borings. <br /> i., Submit a minimum of two soil samples from each boring for laboratory analyses for <br /> TPH-G and BTEX. The actual samples to be submitted should be negotiated with the <br /> SJLHD prior to anlayses. <br /> �.
