L'
Lremove sediments from the well pack and casing. At the conclusion of development, water
levels will again be measured.
' Groundwater Monitoring
Subsequent to construction and development, groundwater-monitoring-wells will be sampled.
If periodic groundwater monitoring is required by the lead regulatory agency, each monitoring
well will be sampled, according to a proposed or specified sampling schedule (i.e., monthly or
quarterly), thereafter.
r Groundwater-Elevation Measurements
Groundwater levels will be measured in each of the monitoring wells prior to each sampling
event. Groundwater levels will be measured prior to purging and subsequent to sampling.
Groundwater data, collected either prior to initiation of the quarterly sampling, or at least 72
hours subsequent to sampling, will be used in evaluating groundwater-flow direction and
Lgradient.
The groundwater level in each well will be measured using a Solinst, electronic depth
LL sounding device, or equivalent water-level indicator. The depth-to-water measurement
provided by the depth sounding device will be referenced to a previously surveyed reference
point on the well head. The resulting groundwater surface elevation will be recorded. Depth
and elevation measurements will be reported on the sampling-logs to the nearest 0.01 foot.
Instrumentation introduced into the well for the purpose of measuring water levels or depths
of wells will be decontaminated prior to, and subsequent to, introduction to each well.
Decontamination procedures are outlined in Equipment Decontamination.
Well-Depth Measurements
The total depth of each well will be measured subsequent to each sampling event. Total
depth will be measured using a weighted tape (or electronic sounding device) referencing the
surveyed reference point on the well head.
Groundwater Sampling
i Groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells as required by the lead agency, will be j
sampled in order of known, ascending contaminant concentrations.
LPurging of Monitoring Wells
The wells will be purged prior to sampling to remove water from the well casing and
formation surrounding the well screen which may have undergone chemical/physical alteration
Workplan SOPS•07400008-May,1995 SOP 3 -2
a
F .
&Associates
