r • •
•
' The proposed boring/hydropunch locations will be screened using a
magnetometer to assess the potential presence of underground
' utilities Underground Services Alert will also be contacted to
assist in utility locating activities prior to initiation of
Investigation activities
Soil samples will be collected from the four borings using a
hollow-stem drill rig Soil samples will be collected every 5
feet, starting at a depth of approximately 10 feet bgs and will
' extend to the soil,/groundwater interface. Additionally, soil
samples will be collected at lithologi.c changes and at areas of
soil contamination Soli samples will be collected by driving a
' 2-Inch diameter modified California sampler (containing clean
brass tubes) ahead of the hollow stem augers
Grab groundwater samples will also be collected from each of the
four borings using a hydropunch Hollow diameter steel casing
containing a perforated PVC screen at the bottom of the casing
will be advanced to approximately 3 feet below the permeable
zone. The casing will then be retracted approximately 4 feet to
allow Infiltration of groundwater. The grab groundwater samples
will be collected by lowering the Teflon bailer through the
hollow casing The samples will be transferred Into 40-m1 VOA
vials and amber glass Tars
The soil and grab groundwater samples will be stored in a chilled
cooler for delivery to the laboratory Strict chain-of-custody
protocols will be followed In all phases of sample handling.
1 All equipment used during this investigation which come Into
contact with affected material will be thoroughly decontaminated
before and after each use This will be accomplished by washing
with Alconox (a laboratory--grade detergent) and rinsing with
' delonlzed, distilled, or fresh water.
The boreholes will be backfilled with grout upon completion of
soil and groundwater sampling activities The neat cement will
be tremled from the bottom of the borehole to the top of the
borehole.
4.1 Laboratory Analyses
The soil and grab groundwater samples will be sent to a
state-certified laboratory and selectively analyzed for:
• TPHg and TPHd using EPA Method 3550/3520; and
• BTEX and Oxygenates using EPA Method 8020/8260 .
4
1
