.
PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN
Ripon Farm Service
22871 South Highway 99
Ripon, California
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with ,a request from Mr. R. B. McCandless of Ripon Farm Service,
Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has prepared this proposal to perform a
preliminary site assessment in the area of the former un'i erground storage tanks (UST's)
on the property located at 22871 South Highway 99 in Ripon , California (the site). The site
is located in rural industrial area east of Ripon along the Iighway 99 frontage. The location
of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 UST Removal
i
It is our understanding that a total of four (4) UST's we+e removed from the site on July
15, 1987. One 10,000-gallon diesel tank (Tank #1) and one 7,500-gallon diesel tank (Tank
#2) were located near the tuning shop; one 10,000-gallon unleaded tank (Tank #3) and one
10,000-gallon diesel tank (Tank #4) were located near the pole shed. The approximate
location of the UST's are illustrated in Figure 2.
2.2 Hydrocarbon Contamination
One sample was collected from beneath the each UST. The lisamples were collected at
depths between 18 and 21 feet below surface grade' (bsg). Petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination was detected in soil samples collected from beneath tanks #1, #2 and #3 at
the time of removal. The laboratory results of the soil samples rare summarized in Table 1
(as reported by Canonie Environmental).
A letter from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) dated March 7, 1994, states that "the former underground storage
tank(s) (UST) cannot be recommended for final closure without further investigation to
determine the full extent of the soil and/or groundwater problenil."Therefore, a preliminary
site assessment of the property will be required to determine if soil or groundwater
contamination is present at the site.
9ZV4-94ft-r.
i
r
