Environmental Protection <br /> Agency, October 1985. <br /> 2) Notify the EHD 48 hours prior to commencement of any work. <br /> 3) Drill a total of four (4) soil borings using a truckmounted hollow stem auger drill <br /> 11 <br /> rig. Each boring,will be drilled to a maximum depth of 25 feet. <br /> 4) Obtain discrete soil samples at five-foot intervals using a split-spoon sampler loaded <br /> with three pre-cleaned brass tubes. <br /> 5) Preserve soil samples in the lead brass tubes by covering both ends with aluminum <br /> sheets, capping and sealing with tape. <br /> 6) Label and log soil samples on a chain-of custody form. <br /> 7) Store the samples in a chilled container and transport to a State certified laboratory <br /> for analyses. <br /> 8) Monitor auger returns and soil sample duplicates for the ipresence of volatile.organics <br /> using a photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-calib"rated "to isobutylene. <br /> 9) Collect two water samples via hydropunch method. i, e water samples will be <br /> collected using clean, disposable plastic bailers. <br /> 10) Analyze two samples from each boring for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as <br /> 11 <br /> gasoline or diesel) and volatile organics (BTE&X1in accordance with EPA methods <br /> 8015m and 8020, respectively. <br /> d <br /> 11) Decontaminate sampling and hydropunch equipment in a-tri-sodium phosphate <br /> 11 <br /> solution (TSP) and rinse twice with water prior to each sampling run. <br /> 12) Log auger returns in accordance with the Unified) Soil Classification System. <br /> 13 Place auger aug returns on plastic sheeting and store on-sit l pending analytical results. <br /> 14) Backfill the borings using concrete-bentonite slurryill n the entire depth of the borings. <br /> 15) Prepare a report summarizing the results of the above investigation.
