1
17 February 2003
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0137
' 56 507 feet above mean sea level(MSL) The results of the well-casing survey are contained in Table
4 The surveying report (Baumbach &Piazza) is presented in Appendix A
2 3 WELL MONITORING PROCEDURES
Quarterly ground water monitoring activities were conducted on 02 January 2003 Ground water
monitoring was conducted concurrent with the ground water monitoring event at the Iimco Truck
Plaza located directly north of the site
2 3 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
A1 st water level meter was used to measure the depth ground water in on-site wells MW-1
So in to gr p
through MW-5 relative to the tops of the well casings The ground water elevations and gradient
were determined from these data(Table 4)
. After recording water level measurements, disposable plastic bailers were used to purge the on-site
mowtonng wells MW-1 through MW-5 of standing water Approximately 6 to 6 5 gallons of water
(a minimum of 3 casing water-volumes per well)were removed from MW-1 through MW-5 Ground
water temperature,pH and conductivity were measured at regular Intervals during purging using an
Oakton wat r analyzer Purged ground water was containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved
model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site Field sheets and data are Included in
Appendix A
2 3 2 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
Water samples were collected from the purged wells using new disposable plastic bailers after
allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume Each sample
was transferred into three 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile organic analysis(VOA) vials and Into one
1-liter amber bottle Samples were properly labeled, stored in a chilled container and transported
' under chain-of-custody to MAI Each sample was analyzed for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel and motor oil (TPII-g, TPH-d
' and TPG-mo) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and
• BTEX compounds and the oxygenating fuel additives methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE),
' tertiarybutyl alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiarybutyl ether(ETBE)and
tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME),ethylene dibromide(EDB)and 1,2 dichloroethane(1,2-
DCA) in accordance with EPA Methods 8260 -'
Advanced GeoEnvirpnmental,Inc
