Hwy 99,Stockton M URGENT ❑FOR REVIEW ❑PI-AASE COMMENT ❑PLEASE REFLY OPT-EASE RECYCI E Mr.Batton: The Interim Groundwater Remediation Syst=at the site was shut down on November 18, 2003 at 5:12 pm due to breakthrough of the carbon traits. Treatment sr,rem samples were collected November 17, 2003 and results were verbally conveyed to Ground Zero at approximately 4:30 pm November 18, 2003, We have scheduled to have Carbon Resources change out the carbon in both units on the afternoon of December 1, 2003. The units will be filled with virgin coconut shell carbon and the system restarted as soon as possible thereafter, In addition to the carbon change out, a 200-pound carbon unit will be delivered to the site to act as a polish on the effluent to prevent.discharge of detectable contarninants in the event of breakthrough in the primary carbon units. We are also evaluating air stripper systems to add to the system. VAaile the system is down,we have removed all down-bole equipment in the extraction well and replaced the passive shimmer in the well to remove free product A faulty switch in the Quid level sensors also required replacement 'This was performed on November 20,2043 and the skimmer was placed in the well on November 21,2003. Following is a table that summari2es analytical results of influent and effluent samples collected since the system was placed into operation on November 5,20103. Since startup,the system has treated a total of 21, 845 gallons of groundwater.
