Project 1 - Domestic Water Well
JJW Geosciences will deactivate the well and remove the test nipple from the well head to allow
downhole access. A small diameter bailer will be used to collect a sample from the upper surface
of the water table. No purging is proposed.
Our cost estimate assumes that there will be adequate clearance between the downhole pump
and the well casing to allow for collection of the water sample. Should the pump and associated
piping need to be removed for sample collection, additional costs beyond those specified in the
accompanying Cost Estimate Worksheet will be incurred. Oftentimes, due to the weight of the
pump and associated piping, a hydraulically-equipped pump truck is necessary to remove the
pump and piping.
The single domestic well sample will be shipped to a State of California certified analytical
laboratory for analysis for total coliform and petroleum hydrocarbons via EPA methods 524.2 and
8260.
Included in this Project task will be a review of Department of Water Resources well logs to
determine casing size, depth, and screened intervals of the on-site domestic well. Costs for
downhole videotaping of the casing, if needed, are not included in our bid. We can provide a cost
estimate for downhole videotaping should the well log data prove insufficient.
Project 2 --Contaminated Soil Disposal and Site Backfilling and Repaving
Approximately 150 cubic yards of contaminated soil will be re-excavated from the excavation and
disposed at Forward, Inc. landfill in Stockton. Should additional overexcavation be necessary, the
costs will be billed on a time and materials basis in accordance with the enclosed 1998 Fee
Schedule.
Following removal of the contaminated soil, clean import soil will be brought in to backfill the
excavation. The import soil will be compacted during backfilling. The backfilled excavation will
be repaved with asphalt. Included in our cost estimate is saw-cutting of the existing paverrrent
edges to allow for uniform matching of the new asphalt with the existing asphalt.
Project 3 -Soil and Groundwater Investigation
Two exploratory soil borings are proposed to be advanced in the locations specified in the RFB.
The borings are proposed to be advanced to depths of approximately 80 feet each. Both borings
will be continuously cored and logged for lithology. Soil samples will be collected for laboratory
analysis at five foot vertical intervals and at changes in lithology.
A groundwater grab sample is proposed to be collected from each boring. A HydroPunch tip and
screen will be used to collect the groundwater samples. Following sample collection, the
boreholes will be backfilled with a cement grout delivered via tremie pipe.
r;,
