Highway 99, Morada, CA 9 ;7,1'z-
Ms.
z.1
Ms. Lori Duncan:
This Feasibility Study is submitted in response to comments from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EBD), in the correspondence dated July 3, 2007. A copy of
the July 3, 2007 correspondence is included as Appendix A. Several issues were addressed in the
correspondence as summarized as follows:
Paragraph 3: Regarding confirmation soil boring location
"...SJC/EHD approves the installation of one confirmation soil boring located near VW2, but
requests that the boring be placed near MW1 and SB2".
• Ground Zero Analysis, Inc (GZA) feels that it would be difficult to quantify the
effectiveness of the soil vapor extraction based on analytical results from soil samples
collected from a soil boring advanced between MW1 and S132.
o The highest concentrations found in the soil data collected from MW 1 and SB2
indicate the presence of up to 42 mg/Kg TPHg and up to 2.5 mg/Kg of MtBE.
o Soil samples collected from VW2 indicate TPHg levels up to 5,600 mg/Kg and
MtBE levels as high as 14 mg/Kg.
• GZA proposes advancing two soil borings; one per EHD recommendations (between MW1
and SB2) and one in the location of VW2.
o The cost will be minimal due to rig already being mobilized to the site.
o The location of the proposed soil borings has been modified.
o Figure 2 is site plan modifying the proposed soil boring locations.
:Paragraph 4: Regarding installation of three monitoring wells
"...SJC/EHD approves the installation of these wells, but cautions that care should be taken during
installation to ensure the screen intervals and filter packs do not bridge two sand zones. A shorter
(10 or 15-foot) screen interval may be more appropriate".
G:IGROUNDZEITULEBURGIRcports10709 FS rem enhancement.doc
i
