' Quarter Monitoring Report <br /> January through March 2005 <br /> . 8200 N Highway 99, Stockton, CA <br /> Page 6 of 8 <br /> All of the drill cuttings produced were placed in four DOT approved 55-gallon drums and <br />' were temporarily stored on site Slaby Environmental of Borrego Springs, CA transported the <br /> drums to a licensed disposal facility <br />' 5.0 SUMMARY <br />' The groundwater treatment system was put into operation on November 5, 2003 pursuant to WDR <br /> General Order No R5-2003-004412 The system operated for 73 days during the reporting period, <br /> with brief periods of non-operation due to maintenance Late February and early March influent <br />' flow into the carbon units was restricted due to scaling within the slotted piping of the carbon units <br /> The system was treated with an acid wash in hopes of clearing the scaling, but scaling returned near <br /> the end of March The system was shut down and various venders were contacted regarding pre- <br /> treatment The prescribed treatment is a blended phosphate called Aqua Mag, which would be <br /> metered into the influent stream at approximately 0 2 gpd A copy of the Material Safety Data <br /> Sheet for Aqua Mag is included in Attachment I Ground Zero is waiting for authorization from the <br />' Regional Board to install the metering pump and begin pre-treatment of the influent stream with <br /> Aqua Mag <br /> Approximately 264,943 gallons of water were treated during the reporting period A total of <br /> approximately 819,916 gallons of groundwater has been treated between November 2003 and <br /> March 30, 2005 During that period, approximately 82 pounds of petroleum hydrocarbons, <br /> including approximately 25 pounds of MTBE, were removed through the treatment system The <br /> treatment system is currently idle while Ground Zero is waiting for authorization from the Regional <br /> Board to begin pre-treatment of the influent stream with Aqua Mag <br /> Groundwater in the shallow aquifer beneath the site generally flowed to the northeast when <br /> q g Y <br />' monitored on March 16, 2005, although a pumping depression was evident around the extraction <br /> well EW2 <br /> MTBE was detected in downgradient A Zone well MW12 on March 17, 2005 No MTBE was <br /> detected in wells MW10 or MW11, located west of well MW12, or in wells MW15 and MW16, <br /> which are located downgradient of well MW 12 <br />' MTBE was detected in the C Zone well MW13C Well MW13C is located east of the former <br /> water supply well No MTBE was detected in B Zone well MW14B, which is located within a <br />' few feet of the former water supply well <br /> I <br /> • <br /> G 1GROUNDZEITULESURGIReportslQMR1200511QM2005 doc <br /> r <br />
