DAMES &. MOORE A FROFESSIONAL LWITED PARTNERSHIP
1320 EAST SHAW AVENUE, SUITE 110, FRESNO, CALIFORNIA 9.3710 (209)222-7892
FAX(209)222-1937
May 24, 1989
Chevron U.S.A. Project No. 16000-165--03
P.O. Box 5001
San Ramon, California 95001 i` ;
Attention: Lisa Marinaro
MAY 3 41989
RE: [ ''v:iF&)" LNTA_€',_Aa.
Proposed Workplan iFTfSrRrl'.
Ground Water Monitoring Wells Installation
Chevron Service Station #96155
Highway 99 and Morada Lane
Stockton, California
INTRODUCTION
In accordance with your request, we have prepared an addendum to our proposed workplan
for the installation of three ground water monitoring wells at the above-referenced subject
property.
The proposed workplan was submitted to the California Regional Water Quality Control
Board (RWQCB) and the San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD) at your request on March
20, 1989. At the time the workplan was submitted, an accompanying letter requesting a
priority review by those agencies was included. A telephone conversation on March 30. 1989
from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board verbally approved our workplan,
and it was indicated that a letter of review from the RWQCB was being sent to the San
Joaquin Local Health District expressing that approval.
A telephone call was placed by Dames & Moore to the San Joaquin Local Health District
on May 3, 1989 to determine the progress of the review of our workplan necessary to secure
permits to proceed with the installation of the monitoring wells. Messages were left with a
Cynthia Wagner of the San Joaquin Local Health District, and a call was returned to Dames &
Moore on May 10, 1989. Ms. Wagner was appraised of desire to obtain the priority two-week
review so work at the subject property could commence in accordance with the workplan. Ms.
Wagner indicated Diane Hinson of the SJLHD had reviewed the workplan and made comments
regarding our technical approach. Those comments were relayed to Dames & Moore as follows:
1. It was the opinion of the SJLHD that the monitoring wells needed to be located closer
to the previous tank cluster area, otherwise the SJLHD would consider the area interior
to the well boundaries as needing further assessment;
2. Chemical analysis of samples obtained should include analysis for low-boiling point
hydrocarbons;
3. To verify any abandoned wells on-site were abandoned in accordance with local
regulatory requirements; and
OFFICES WORLDWIDE
