The San Joaquin County Health Department
was satisfied with the condition and final grade of the site
5 3 Backfill and Compaction
Soil aerated during the remediation process was replaced in the pit as compacted
fill beginning on October 19, 1990. Fills were placed using a vibratory sheepsfoot
roller The bottom photograph on Plate 2 shows the compaction effort in progress
Compaction testing of the fill was performed by Twining Laboratories of Modesto,
California. Specifications for compaction called for a minimum of 90% relative
compaction based on the ASTM D-1557-78 test method for moisture content/density
relationship Fills were tested at a maximum interval of 2 vertical feet A copy of
Twining Laboratory's report is included in Appendix B
16000-250-044
DAMES & MooRE
