Chevron U.S.A.
Page 4
3 .Q PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Purpose and Scope of our investigation was outlined
in Dames & Moore 's Proposed Remedial Action Plan of September
15, 1989, addressed to Chevron U.S.A. The plan was modified
in an addendum to the plan dated January 8, 1990. The
purpose of the remedial action was to reduce the potential
for further migration of contamination found in site soils.
The scope of services performed included the following
tasks:
o Obtaining necessary permits and authorization prior
to the commencement of the field portion of the
. remediation;
o Observation of site remediation activities;
o Field screening of soil with a photoionization
detector (PID) to help direct the remedial
activity;
o Obtain soil samples at the limits of the
excavation, as directed by the site representative
of San Joaquin County;
o Chemical analysis of soil samples to evaluate the
presence and concentration of petroleum
constituents as referenced to gasoline;
o Observe aeration of soil and collect composite
samples at the frequency specified by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board;
o Observe backfilling of the excavation; and
o Report our findings and conclusions.
16000-250-044
Corrected
