11 September. 1996
AGE Project No. 95-0108
1
On 23 November 1993,two soil samples were collected by Park.`One soil sample was collected from
' the floor of the excavation(SB3; 16.5 feet) and one sample was collected from the east wail of the .
excavation (ESW; 11 feet). A PHS-EHD memo dated 21 December 1993, indicated that petroleum
hydrocarbon were detected in the soil samples collected from the sidewalls and bottom of the former
,. 'UST excavation. The analytical results for the'soil samples were not on file with the PHS-EHD,
however, a copy of the PHS-EHD memo is included in Appendix 1.
15. EXCAVATION OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL, FEBRUARY 1994
On 11 February 1994,,an additional 850 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated
from the former UST area, extending the excavation to a'depth of 24 Feet bsg. Excavation was
' supervised by Park Environmental. Three soil samples, were .collected from the excavation and
relinquished to Anlab of Sacramento, California. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in each _
sampled analyzed. Impacted soil was present in the excavation at a depth of 24 feet bsg. Analytical
results of the soil samples are summarized on Table 3. A-copy of the laboratory report is included`
in Appendix J.
On 8 March 1994, three additional soil samples were collected ffoin the excavation by Park
Environmental. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in two of the samples analyzed by Sierra
' Laboratories. Impacted soil was present in the eastern portion of the excavation at a depth of 26 feet
bsg. Analytical results of the soil samples are summarized on'Table 3. A copy of the laboratory
reportis included in Appendix K.
3.6. EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLING, NOVEMBER 1994
On 03 November 1994,representatives of Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GAS) collected three soil
samples(LC-S; LC-N; LC-W) from the floor of the excavation. The soil samples were collected to
determine if impacted soil was present in the excavation. Sample collection was witnessed by
representatives of the PHS-EHD.
' The samples were transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI) in.
Pacheco, California and analyzed for TPH-d. TPH-d was detected in sample LC-W (west end of the
excavation) at 4,800 ppm. TPH-d was not detected in samples-LC-S or LC-N. All samples were
collected from depths between 25.5 feet and'27.5 feet bsg. Analytical results of the soil samples are
summarized on Table 4. A copy of the, laboratory report (MAI Lab ID 42081 to 42083) is included
' .in Appendix L.
