20 March 1996
' AGE-NC Project No. 95-0108
'
not detected in sample WW-1-P, collected from the west wall at a depth 11 feet bs. Approximate
locations of the soil samples are illustrated on Figure 2. +
' 1993, P rk Environmental excavated additional soil from the former UST area.
On 21 October a
Hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated from the southern and the northwestern portion of the
' excavation. Petroleum hydrocarbons were, not detected in soil samples collected during the October
1993 excavation. Results of the September and October 1993 excavation soil samples were reported
in a letter to the PHS-EHD dated 15 November 1993, prepared by Park Environmental, and are
summarized in Table 3.
On 23 November 1993,two soil samples were collected by Paik. One soil sample was collected from
the floor of the excavation (SB3; 16.5 feet) and one sample was collected from the east wall of the,
excavation(ESW, I 1 feet). However, analytical results for the soil samples.were not on file with the
' PHS-EHD.
'• 3.5. EXCAVATION OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL, FEBRUARY 1994
On I 1 February 1994, additional hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated from the former UST area
to a depth of 24 feet bsg. Excavation was supervised by Park Environmental. Three soil samples were
collected from the excavation. Verbal communications from Park Environmental to the PHS-EHD
indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the excavation soil samples; however,
analytical results of soil sample analysi's were not subirritted to the PHS-EHD.
On 8 March 1994, three additional soil samples were collected from the excavation by Park
' Environmental. Similar to the February 1994 samples, verbal communications from, Park
Environmental to the PHS-EHD indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in these
' samples-, however, analytical results were not submitted.to the PHS-EHD.
3.6. EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLING, NOVEMBER 1994
On 03 November 1994, representatives of Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GAS) collected three soil
samples(LC-S; LC-N; LC-W) from the floor of the excavation.,The soil samples were collected to,
determine if impacted soil was present in the excavation.' Sample collection was witnessed by
representatives of the PHS-EHD.
' The samples were transported under chain-of-custody to McCam bell Analytical, Inc. in Pacheco
p P Y p Yt
California and analyzed for TPH-d. TPH-d was detected in sample LC-W,(west end of the
' excavation) at 4,800 ppm. TPH-d was not detected in samples LC-S or LC-N. All samples were .
collected from depths between 25.5 feet and 27.5 feet bsg. Approximate locations of the soil samples
