1
LEAK OR SPILL INFORMATION
The owner reported that occasional small spills and
' overfilling of trucks and diesel tanks occurred at the site. No
inventory reconciliation was kept on the tanks. The tanks were
' emplaced in 1957 and were used regularly until 1990.
The gas tank has not been used in several years and was kept
empty according to Les Calkins.
TANK AND PIPING LAYOUT
All tanks and piping is removed from the site and manifested
' to Turlock . Manifests are not available at this time.
SITE TOPOGRAPHY, GEOLOGY AND HYDROLOGY
' The site is flat with relief over the entire site less than
The site is underlain by Quaternary alluvial flood basin
sequences of sand , sandy clay and gravel of the San Joaquin
Valley.
Geologic examination of the tank pit shows an 8 foot bank of
sandy clay and silty sand (USCS = SC-SM) .
PROPOSED SAMPLING PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT
Completion of 4 soil borings at the tank pit are proposed .
One boring will be made at the south end of the tank pit . Two
borings at the northwest and northeast corners of the pit and one
' soil boring in the middle of the tank pit .
Boring and sampling will be done with an Ingersoll Rand A-
200 t re inch hollow stem auger drill and a split spoon sampler
' with three six inch brass tube liners. The middle tube in the
split spoon will be used for analysis unless a duplicate is
required at the sample interval . Duplicate sampling is discussed a
' under Quality Control below. Samples will be taken beginning at
10 feet and at five feet intervals thereafter and when a change //
in soil type i5 encountered which could affect hydrologic ele
conductivity. Samples will be taken to 25 feet in depth . All .
' samples will be tested at the time the split spoon is opened with /
the Organic Vapor Analyzer . If the bottom sample (25 foot sample) 3
shows in excess of .5 ppm increase over ambient organic vapor
' level the borings will be directly continued to ten feet below
the water table and converted to monitor wells ( approximately 45
feet ) .
' The soil borings will be backfilled with a 7 sack sand
cement upon abandonment .
fc d
_ Gcyu
3
I
T & T EARTH SERVICES
