File No. SP-037
March 13, 1992
After Underground Service Alert is notified, we will explore the subsurface site conditions and
materials by exploration and sampling of approximately 3 backhoe trenches. The maximum
planned trench depth is 8 feet. Relatively undisturbed samples will be taken from the trenches
and sealed in containers, and bulk samples from the excavations will be secured in bags. The
samples will be returned to our laboratory for testing. A geologist or an engineer will
supervise the field investigation. The borings will be loosely backfilled with cuttings from the
borings.
Laboratory testing of soil samples considered reasonably representative of the materials
obtained from the field exploration will be done to help identify and evaluate subsurface site
characteristics. Tests should include, but may not be limited to:
• In-Place Moisture and Density - aid in settlement evaluation;
• Direct Shear - bearing capacity;
• Expansion Index - effect of expansive soils;
Once field and laboratory tests are complete the data will be organized and analyzed by a member
of our professional staff in order to develop conclusions and recommendations relevant to site
development as we understand it.
The final recommendations pertinent to site development and construction will be set forth in a
written report based on evaluation of the data obtained from the exploration and testing
programs and on experience and judgement.
A breakdown of the estimated costs for this proposal are:
Phase Cost
Field Exploration (1 day) $ 750
Laboratory Testing 490
Soil Suitability Tests 1 ,000
Report Preparation 660
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST $ 2,900
We will notify you immediately if there are changed field conditions that would result in a
substantial change in the above estimate.
The foregoing estimate does not include services that may be required after submittal of the
report such as plan reviews, construction observation and testing. Also not included are
services associated with additional requirements (if any) resulting from a third party review
process, or the cost of permits required for field exploration and percolation testing.
Earth Systems Consultants will not be liable for damage to underground structures or lines that
are not clearly marked at the time of our field exploration.
3
