BROWN AND
C A L D W E L L
May 25, 1999
Mr. Ronald Rowe
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 Webster Avenue
Post Office Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388 017-16271-01/1
Subject: Work Plan for Soil Sampling of Former Diesel UST Over Excavation,
T&T Trucking, 11396 North Highway 99, Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Rowe:
On behalf of T&T Trucking, Brown and Caldwell (BC) is submitting this letter report and
work plan for the collection of soil samples within the over excavated area of the former
10,000-gallon diesel underground storage.tank (UST) at the subject site (Figure 1). This
letter report and workplan is required by the San Joaquin Public Health Department,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) prior to the collection of any additional soil
samples and subsequent closure of the diesel UST site. The purpose of the additional soil
sampling is to characterize the lateral and vertical extent of diesel-impacted soil in the
former diesel UST over excavated areas before the excavation is backfilled with appropriate
material. The objective is to obtain `no further action'from PHS/EHD on this portion of
the T&T Trucking site.
This letter report also summarizes initial UST removal and excavation sampling, analytical
results, and discusses proposed sampling locations of over excavated areas based those
sampling results.
Diesel UST Excavation and Sampling
The diesel UST was removed and transported off site by Johnson Petroleum Construction
Inc. on May 6, 1999. The UST was approved for removal by PHS/EHD and the local fire
department.
The UST cavity is located on the south side of the workshop building, which is the main
truck thoroughfare at this site (Figure 1). Under the direction of PHS/EHD two soil
samples were collected from the bottom the cavity, one on each end of the UST (W1-16,
E1-16). These two soil samples were collected approximately three feet deeper than the
excavation bottom at a depth of approximately 16 feet below ground surface (bgs). The
This report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the environmental consulting industry at the time it was
prepared It should not be relied upon by parties other than those for whom it was prepared, and then only to the extent of
the scope of work which was authorized This report does not guarantee that no additional environmental contamination
.. beyond that described in this report exists at the site.
BCSAC OI\PA16000\16271\WWLN3.doc
Environmental Engineering And Consulting•Analytical Services
9616 MICRON AVENUE, SUITE 600, SACRAMENTO, CA 95827.2627
(916) 444.0123 FAX (916) 856-5277
