. Results of Confirmation Soil Boring,Domestic Well Sampling And Closure Request
Moore Petroleum,Inc, 14800 West Frontage Road,Manteca, California
Page 3
VB-4-25 were submitted under COC documentation to Sparger Sparger received these two soil
samples and signed the COC Sparger informed Apex on October 16, 1997 that they never
extracted and analyzed the two soil samples VB-4-15 and VB-4.25 Field screening of all soil
samples for VB-4 were all "zero" on the photo-ionization meter, and no odors were noticeable
DOMESTIC WELL WATER SAMPLING RESULTS
On August 29, 1997, Apex personnel collected water samples from the station's domestic well
(DM-1) and the domestic well of a trailer park located to the south of the subject site (DM-2)
Prior sampling indicated the presence of 1,2-dichloroethane from both of the domestic wells
Apex believes the former results from well DM-2 may have been another lab error The water
samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody documentation to Sparger All samples were
collected in accordance with the Apex SOP included in Appendix A The water samples were
analyzed for TPH, as gasoline, TPH, as diesel, BTEX and MTBE by EPA Methods 8020 and
8015 The water samples were also analyzed for 1,2-dichloroethane by EPA Method 601 The
analytical results of the domestic well samples indicate that all constituents were below standard
lab detection limits The results of the water sampling are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory
analytical reports and COC form are included in Appendix B
Moore Petroleum abandoned the one on-site domestic well DM-1 and replaced this well with a
deeper screened well (Figure 2) Apex collected a groundwater sample from this new domestic
well on October 13, 1997 The groundwater sample from the new domestic well was submitted
under COC to Sparger, for analyses of TPH, as gasoline, TPH, as diesel, BTEX, 1,2-dichloro-
ethane and MTBE The results of the analyses were below laboratory detection limits for all
constituents analyzed
RECOMMENDATIONS
Due to the historically non-detect or near-detection-limit petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations
in groundwater monitoring wells at the subject site, non-detect hydrocarbons in confirmation soil
boring samples collected on August 29, 1997, and non-detect hydrocarbons and Halogenated
organics in both domestic wells on and off the site, Apex believe the subject site has achieved its
subsurface cleanup goals Therefore, Apex recommends closure for the site In support of this
closure request, Apex included an Appendix B of the Tri-Regional Recommendations Checklist in
the Appendix C of this report
JY D 1_PR0JECTIE'S1ERA02 0091Results09971Resu1tsReport doe
