' 31 March 2005 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 03-1080 <br /> ' Page 4 of 7 <br /> ' of 35 feet bsg Boring B1 was advanced approximately 2 feet east of dispenser D1, boring B2 was <br /> advanced approximately 5 feet southwest of dispenser D1,and boring B3 was advanced adjacent to <br /> the north edge of dispenser D4 Soil boring locations are depicted on Figure 2 <br /> 32 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> ' Samples were collected from all three borings at discreet 5-foot intervals from 5 feet bsg to total <br /> depth of the borings using a 125-inch Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four 6-inch <br /> brass sleeves All sampling equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed twice with <br /> water prior to each sampling run For each soil sample collected,both ends of the second sleeve were <br /> covered with Teflon sheets,capped,and sealed with tape The samples were then labeled, stored on <br /> ' ice,and transported under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL),a State <br /> of California Department of Health Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory Selected samples <br /> were analyzed for <br /> ' TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and <br /> r <br /> Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and fuel oxygenates MTBE, di- <br /> isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (ETBE), TBA, 1,2-DCA, 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), methanol, and ethanol in accordance <br /> ' with EPA Method 8260B <br /> r <br /> ' 33 SOIL LOGGING <br /> ' After sample preservation,soil was extruded from the remaining sleeves and field-screened utilizing <br /> an organic vapor analyzer (OVA) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br /> Environmental 580B, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) The soil was also described visually in <br /> ' accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System Soil boring logs exhibiting soil profiles are <br /> included in Appendix D <br /> 3 4 GRAB GROUND WATER COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> ' After probing to total depth,ground water was encountered at approximately 28 feet to 30 feet bsg <br /> A grab ground water sample was collected from each boring between 35 feet and 40 feet bsg The <br /> ground water samples were collected using a Geoprobe water sampling assembly with a pre-cleaned, <br /> ' 1-inch diameter 0 01-inch slotted polyvinylchloride (PVC) screen Each sample was extracted by <br /> . lowering a Teflon hose-bailer through the hollow center of the push rods into the screened section <br /> ' Advanced GeoEvironmentai,Inc <br />
