JJC'7' O'RA'nONS DEPARTMENT"
GJp ,Ms -MEMORANDUM"
®'Plant 4
"IPanb* to Ke the B se
To: Robe t Lopez , OES San Joaquin County 10/10/94
From: Jeff Wong
cc: Dan Wallace, Bob Bennett, Mike Infurna-San Joaquin County
Health Department.
Subject: STAT S ON FINDINGS FROM OES INSPECTION ON 10/6/94 .
-------------- ---------------------
On 10/6/9 , Robert Lopez from OES made an inspection of TVG
plant 4 in St ckton, California. During the inspection we came
across an are on the east side of the plant near the north/east
side of the c erry sheds which had some open drums stored in the
area which ha used oil and rain water in them. That same day,
Mike Infurna rom the County Health Department was notified. He
spoke with our USDA inspector in the plant, Debbie, about looking
the area over o make sure that there was no contamination to the
cherry storagebins next to the drums from the water contaminated
with oil nexto it. The USDA confirmed our findings that the
water level was only half way up the pallet base of the bins,
approximately ,2 inches, which house the area for the forks on a
f-orklift. The inspector was also notified that the bins were lined
with a hard p, astic and the cherries inside were also in a bag
liner as well. We did note the bins which we were concerned with
and we will inspect them carefully when we process them.
On 10/7/94 , John Johnson and myself sealed up theses drums and
cleaned the wp
ter with oil absorbent pillows and pads. We then
labeled them and placed two of them in over packs because the
ring tops were not DOT approved. We took the remaining pillows and
pads on 10/8/4 , which were left to soak up the remaining oil, and
placed them n waste drums which were already being used for
absorbent.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to
call. My number is (209) 931-8072 .
Sincerely,,1
Jeffrey Wong, TVG Plant 4
"Leadership in Cost, Quality and Service"
