for the site in 1991. In 1992, VFC generated . 54 tons
tootal 3 . 04 tons of solvent waste for the site in
199 .
2 . TVG generates waste oil from the maintenance of cannery
equipment. Prior to 1990, TVG did not distinguish
beteen waste oil generated from the maintenance of
for lifts and that produced from cannery equipment.
Sin a TVG has been utilizing VFC for their forklift
mai tenance, VFC manifests the waste oil generated.
The azardous waste tonnage resulting from the VFC
wast oil, however, is not counted when determining
total tonnage generated due to the exclusion for waste
oil enerated from motor vehicles. Consequently, all
wast oil generated by TVG is from their equipment, and
thus is not exempt in determining their hazardous waste
ton n ge. In 1991, all TVG waste oil was hauled and
recy led by PRC Patterson, Inc. , DBA Refineries
Service, Inc. , 13331 N. Highway 33 , Patterson,
Cali ornia, 95363 , and they generated 3 . 5 tons. In
1992 TVG' s waste oil was handled by both PRC and
Ever reen Environmental Services, 6880 Smith Avenue,
Newa k, California, 94560, and they generated 5. 36 tons
for recycling.
3 . A sm 11 amount of waste grease mixed with absorbent is
gene ated in the process of cleaning up incidental
spil s at the TVG plant. In 1991, Romic Chemical
Corp ration, 2081 Bay Road, East Palo Alto, California,
9430 removed 1. 5 tons of this type of waste. In
1992 this waste was handled by both Romic and Safety
Klee 1722 Cooper Creek Road, Denton, Texas, 76201,
with the combined total of .76 tons. Although as of
the ate of the VFC inspection they had not generated
any of this type of waste, it is anticipated that they
will be generating it at some point in the future as
VFC currently utilizes absorbent in their operation.
4 . In1192 , VFC generated 9. 26 tons of sludge from the
underground sump. The sludge was hauled by Evergreen
Environmental Services, 6880 Smith Avenue, Newark,
California, 94560.
VII. VIOLATION:
#1 In to "evaporation area" of TVG, four drums holding
ha dous waste all contained in a secondary
containment unit lacked accumulation dates. In the
hazadous waste storage area of TVG, another secondary
containment unit holding four drums of hazardous waste
lacked accumulation dates.
4
